Product Description

This owl shaped "cuckoo clock" from River City Clocks is hand-carved in the Black Forest of Germany. It features a wood dial with Roman numerals and wooden hands. On the top of every hour an owl emerges from the swinging door above the clock dial and counts to hour by hooting once per hour. (Example: At one o'clock it hoots once; at eight o'clock it hoots eight times) This clock is covered by a two year limited warranty covering workmanship and manufacturers defects.

NOT a hoot... - James A. Hose - Atlanta, GA USA
...the clock is charming to look at...it tells accurate time...that said, THIS CLOCK HAS SOME REAL PROBLEMS...first, it was a !#@! getting the (D) batteries in...lets just say it took some doing, and im no idiot...then, the "hoot"...pretty disappointing...its a recording, of course, and about the same sound quality as those music-playing greeting cards....tinny, and well, not something youd care to hear more than once...the only way it was bearable was on the lowest setting possible....when the door opens, the spring mechanism makes a loud, obnoxious noise --boing--(even when the door fails to open, which IT WILL, it still makes the sound)...then, after a few hours, the owl stopped hooting...later, it would pick back up again, but not the right amount of hoots, either not enuf, or too much, then later it seemed to fix 'remember' only 2 go silent again...crazy thing seemed 2 have a mind of its own...i had to laugh, by the end...did i mention there were no instructions included?...the only good thing about the thing was calling RIVER CITY CLOCKS, and getting a nice person to talk to, who seemed 2 give a hoot (sorry)...he said that theyd been having alot of problems with this clock, from all over...the clock, he said, has problems...he said hed call me back in a month, when they were supposed to get a new batch of new and improved models...that was two mos, ago, tho...i eventually took the thing off the wall, because i never figured out how to turn the darn thing off ...i cant believe no one has reviewed this little monster...im to blame myself for putting it off these 2 plus mos...now, to call RIVER CITY and see if they will take it back...i plan to try to exchange it for a real cuckoo clock...no more electrictronic cuckoos for me, after this...i thot it would save me from the maintenance and hassle, but i miss a real cuckoo...sorry this was so long, but i had to make up for not doing this sooner...take it from me, dont buy this clock...u may be an owl fan, like me, but look elsewhere...one of those moving eye jobs would probably be just fine, but NOT this "hooting" nightmare...lol
